Review David Brent: Life on the Road
Genre: Musical/Comedy
Director: Ricky Gervais
Cast: Ricky Gervais, Ben Bailey Smith, Abbie Murphy
Country: United Kingdom
Language: English
Year: 2016
Though it’s not the best musical comedy I have ever seen, I still felt a peculiar bond with the film. Because somehow, It relates to my condition, a man who’s struggling to achieve his passion and got stuck in the wrong job to make ends meet. David Brent: Life of the Road is a continuation of the BBC sitcom ‘Office,’ which features the titular role played by Ricky Gervais, who is also a director and writer of the film. The film is all about music that features original songs that are funny and pleasant, leading it to a perfect entertainment package. The story is about David Brent, now associated with a company leaving for a musical tour with his new band, and how he fails pathetically. Every character played their part in a very splendid way, but I liked Ricky Gervais’s direction, screenplay, and singing the most. If you’re also waiting for such a musical comedy for a long time, then this film is a must-watch for you.
